U.S. Navy Birthday – Sunday, October 13: The United States Navy traces its origins to the Continental Congress Navy, which the Continental Congress established on 13 October 1775. 

October Dinner Meeting – Tuesday, October 15: Meet at Mimi’s Cafe in Irvine at 7pm

Color Guard Activity – CASSAR 149th Annual Board of Manager’s Meeting; Bakersfield, CA – Friday & Saturday, October 25 and 26: Members of the South Coast Color Guard will be joining Color Guard members from other Chapters to open and close the Board of Manager’s Meeting in Bakersfield California.

Election Day – Tuesday, November 5

Color Guard Activity – Salute to Veterans Parade; Riverside, CA – Saturday, November 9: For the second year, members of the South Coast color guard will participate in the Salute to Veterans Parade in Riverside. This parade includes musket firings along the parade route.

U.S. Marine Corps Birthday – Sunday, November 10: A committee of the Continental Congress met at Tun Tavern to draft a resolution calling for two battalions of Marines able to fight for independence at sea and on shore. The resolution was approved on November 10, 1775 officially forming the “Continental Marines.” 

Veteran’s Day – Monday, November 11: This is the special day to remember those who served and fought in the defense of our country. 

Color Guard Activity – Veterans Day; multiple locations – Monday, November 11: As in past years, the Color Guard will participate in Veterans Day events around Orange County. Starting with the annual Veterans Day event at the El Toro Memorial Park, Lake Forest, members will join the Orange County Chapter for an afternoon Color Presentation at the Meridian Senior Center in Laguna Hills.

Color Guard Activity – Wreaths Across America Wreath Laying; Lake Forest, CA – Saturday, December 14 – The Color Guard will be on hand for the Annual Wreaths Across America Ceremony taking place at the El Toro Memorial Park in Lake Forest.
