The Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) was instituted in 1875, established in 1889 and chartered by the United States Congress in 1906.  The purpose is the preservation of our precious history and the memory of those patriots that established our great country.

Membership is open to men of good character, 18 years of age or older, who can establish their lineage to a patriot who served the cause of American Independence.  Membership is also open to the male descendants of the soldiers of our allies, France and Spain, whose actual service was in the American sector.

Fifteen American Presidents (including both George Bushes) have been members.  King Juan Carlos I of Spain is also a hereditary member.
